Fante’s Kitchen Shop – It’s safe to say that a visit to Fante’s is a baker or home cook’s dream. Located in the historic Italian Market, they’ve been offering well-curated kitchen supplies and gadgets for over 100 years. Nearly everyone who works at the shop is family, and proudly lives in or near their neighborhood of business. Peruse the shop and you’ll be sure to find something special – a classic pasta maker, tea and coffee accessories, unique baking and cooking tools, and much much more line the walls. And if you visit in person rather than shopping Fante’s online, we recommend planning extra time to chat with their warm and knowledgeable associates.
Philadelphia-Made Gourmet Chocolates – For stunning, hand-painted chocolates founded and produced in Philadelphia, we love John & Kira’s. Their seasonal holiday gifts are beautifully packaged, filled with chocolates that taste as good as they look. Another we recommend is Shane’s Confectionery. They’ve got the impressive bragging rights of having been producing candy continuously on-site since 1863, (if you’ve got some time, they’ve got a full Chocolate-filled history on their site), and also have online ordering available. (Honorable Mention: For those outside of Philly, West Chester PA’s Eclat Chocolate is a formidable option.)
Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop – Having been in the food business for over 90 years, you can expect an expertly created gift basket from the this award-winning cheese shop. Dan Weiss serves as the accomplished cheesemonger, wife Susan creates beautiful gift baskets and cheese arrangements, and their two daughters handle the website, social media accounts, and more. Every visit is enjoyable, and we know first-hand how well-received their gift baskets are. Expect a carefully chosen cheese assortment, with crackers, nuts, and other goodies, wrapped in a festive bow. Online shopping, shipping, and local hand delivery available.
A Taste of Olive – Co-Founders Nancy Smith and Kimber Schladweiler started their olive oil & balsamic vinegar business with a simple concept: to introduce oils and vinegars produced using old world traditions to the modern customer. In addition to their EVOOs, (some of which are exclusive), they’ve got an enviable stock of salts, condiments, and pantry items – many produced in Philadelphia. Stop in to speak with Nancy, Kimber, or one of their experts on staff, or shop their holiday favorites online.
Pennsylvania General Store – Located in Reading Terminal Market, the PA General Store prides itself on being a one-stop shop for all Philadelphia-themed gift items. Expect locally produced Philadelphia food gifts, drinkware, and baskets with a consistently “Philly” flavor.
The Spice Rack – If you’re a fan of organic, Vegan, gluten-free offerings, this local spice purveyor is for you. Located in the charming Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, this shop was opened to fill a void when local mamas Andrea and Aisha Nash realized they couldn’t find the quality of spices they desired for their family without leaving the city. Browse their collections online, or stop in for a friendly and personalized experience.
Omoi Zakka Shop – More of a traditional gift shop than the others so far, Omoi stocks uncommon serving wares and a line of Philly-themed wall mount bottle openers, (think Ben Franklin and the Liberty Bell). Shop in-store, or order online with shipping or in-store pickup options.
The Little Apple – Wine twirls, whiskey rocks, Philly neighborhood coasters and more Philadelphia food gifts adorn the shelves at this Manayunk gift shop. In addition to home goods, they stock accessories and unusual playful cards, so leave time to peruse. Online ordering is available.
